Search Engine Optimisation
How long does it take to index my website?
Google will naturally crawl your website and its content and as long as Robot.txt is not blocking crawlbots, your website will be indexed in a few hours to a few days. You can expedite this process by submitting a sitemap to GSC .
How long does it take to rank on Search engines ?
SEO is a long term Marketing campaign. It will take your content from a couple of weeks to even a couple of months to start ranking high on Search Engines. Various factors will determine how your content performs on Search Engines from Webmaster best practices, Keyword difficulty, competition, quality of content, social shares, backlinks, Page experience e.t.c
Why do I need SEO if I can pay for traffic ?
Keyword here is pay for traffic. SEO will generate your website organic traffic, yes free traffic, however, it needs time and proper execution to happen. A good marketing campaign mixes both Paid and Organic efforts. In the long run, SEO can save you on money that would have otherwise been spent on paid clicks.
Should I create more content to gain more traffic ?
Good content is what ranks on search engine result pages. You do need to have quality content on the keywords you want to rank for but creating more content for the sole purpose of generating more traffic is not a good idea. Focus on creating quality content and optimising and updating older content.Â

Optimise
Any successful Marketing campaign starts off with a research and SEO is no different. At its infancy stage, we perform a research to understand who our target audience is and what they are searching online. This will help us align our content creation efforts with the search intent of our target audience. Who are they and what are they searching for (Kenywords). Â
The next step is coming up with content silos, relating to the keywords our target audience are searching for. Content Silos are simply an index of content we want to create for our website. This takes a top down approach, meaning, we think of a keyword like Marketing as our target keyword and create topic clusters under Marketing that will help us rank for that keyword. This has to be done in a structured format.
Creating quality content and structuring your work is an important step for SEO, however, optimising your content is the icing on the cake. Does your website provide a good user experience, are you linking internally, are you referencing your content (Outbound and Inbound ), are your metatags well formatted ? e.t.c.
